Wheat Stalks is a handmade quilled botanical greeting card, two heads of grain shading from pale yellow through gold to deep orange, with green leaves and fine cream bristles. Nothing is printed on the cover, so it carries a thank-you, a harvest table, or a note of sympathy where a bright card would land wrong.

The design
Every grain is a teardrop, rolled and then pinched once so it comes to a point, and the gradient is a sorting job as much as a rolling one, with the shades laid in sequence from the tip down. The bristles are cut strips rather than rolled, which is the only way they stay that fine.

The moment
Wheat reads as harvest, and harvest reads as having enough, which is why this one works for a thank-you as easily as for a table in November. The blank cover keeps it usable for a condolence note as well, where the restraint is the point rather than a shortfall.

Every Vonderly card is built by 2 to 3 specialists working in sequence. The artisan below led the work on this one.
I do the coils and most of the leaves on our cards. The coils have to be the same size all the way through. If one is wrong, you can see it on the finished card. The leaves I shape on a comb, that is how they get their curve. This part of the work I am fastest at, because I have done it the longest.

What is paper quilling?
Paper quilling is the art of rolling, shaping and arranging narrow strips of paper to create raised designs. On Vonderly cards, each visible quilled element is shaped and placed by hand rather than printed.
How long does it take to make a Vonderly card?
A Vonderly card typically takes around 90 minutes of handwork. Different parts may pass through specialist hands for shaping, detailing and assembly before the finished card is checked and packed.
What comes with each card?
Each card measures 5 × 5 inches, is blank inside for your own message, and comes with a 5.25 × 5.25-inch kraft envelope.
What if my card arrives damaged?
We replace it at no cost, and you keep the original. Email hello@vonderly.com within 30 days of delivery with a photo, and we ship a replacement or issue a refund. There is nothing to send back.
