Palmyrah Palm: Handmade Quilled Tree Greeting Card
"Some places stay with a person. Post one of them."
Every coil placed by hand
Ships flat in a rigid box
Replaced if damaged
Some cards get sent because a place matters, not because the calendar says so. Palmyrah Palm is a handmade quilled tree greeting card, a green fan crown over a dark brown trunk with two tan sand mounds beneath it. Nothing is printed on the cover, so it works for a send-off, a retirement, or a note posted to family who grew up under these trees.

Story
The design and the moment.
01
The design
The crown is a continuous fold, paper pleated into narrow ribs and then cut to a point at every tip, which is why the fan reads as separate fronds from across a room and as one sheet up close. The trunk is husked in stacked layers with the brown edges left raw, so the bark holds its grain.
02
The moment
Borassus flabellifer means fan-bearer, and the fan is the part anyone who grew up in the north recognizes first. It is the state tree of Tamil Nadu and the tree that marks the Jaffna peninsula, which makes this a card for someone a long way from either. Nothing on the cover fixes the occasion.
