The design
Coils are rolled and chained in by hand, hundreds of them, packed so tight the heart holds its shape with no outline around it. The bands wave rather than run straight, which is what stops the shading looking printed. Between each band sits a single flat strip, the only unrolled paper on the card.

The moment
For the anniversary that is not a round number, the Valentine's that is the twelfth one, the marriage that is long past needing announcements. The printed line says the obvious part. What is worth writing inside is the part that changed this year.

Every Vonderly card is built by 2 to 3 specialists working in sequence. The artisan below led the work on this one.
I do the coils and most of the leaves on our cards. The coils have to be the same size all the way through. If one is wrong, you can see it on the finished card. The leaves I shape on a comb, that is how they get their curve. This part of the work I am fastest at, because I have done it the longest.

Who is the Layered Heart card for?

Paper quilling is the art of rolling, shaping and arranging narrow strips of paper to create raised designs. On Vonderly cards, each visible quilled element is shaped and placed by hand rather than printed.
How long does it take to make a Vonderly card?
A Vonderly card typically takes around 90 minutes of handwork. Different parts may pass through specialist hands for shaping, detailing and assembly before the finished card is checked and packed.
What comes with each card?
Each card measures 5 × 5 inches, is blank inside for your own message, and comes with a 5.25 × 5.25-inch kraft envelope.
What if my card arrives damaged?
We replace it at no cost, and you keep the original. Email hello@vonderly.com within 30 days of delivery with a photo, and we ship a replacement or issue a refund. There is nothing to send back.
