Coconut Drink is a handmade quilled summer greeting card, a halved coconut in orange with a cream rim, a red and pink cocktail umbrella, a blue bent straw, and two green leaves behind. Nothing is printed on the cover, so it carries a birthday, a bon voyage, or a note to someone who needs a holiday.

The design
The shell is dozens of long teardrops packed side by side inside a single orange band, each one pinched to a point at the base so the curve of the coconut holds without a frame. The umbrella is built in alternating red and pink panels around a gold stick no thicker than a pin. The leaves are folded to a spine and pressed flat.

The moment
For the friend counting down to a flight, the colleague whose leave is still three weeks away, or the sister who has not stopped working since January. It is the least serious card we make, which is the point. Send it as a birthday card, a bon voyage, or a small argument in favour of taking the time off.

I work on the figures and characters. My style is shape-based, so the posture has to carry the character. Getting a small figure to read correctly is harder than it looks, and I redo them often.

A Vonderly card typically takes around 90 minutes of handwork. Different parts may pass through specialist hands for shaping, detailing and assembly before the finished card is checked and packed.
What comes with each card?
Each card measures 5 × 5 inches, is blank inside for your own message, and comes with a 5.25 × 5.25-inch kraft envelope.
What if my card arrives damaged?
We replace it at no cost, and you keep the original. Email hello@vonderly.com within 30 days of delivery with a photo, and we ship a replacement or issue a refund. There is nothing to send back.
