The design
The candle is several coils made like looped back and forth in a column, each loop set slightly off the last so the wax appears to twist as it rises. The flame above it is rolled tight on one edge and loose on the other, which is what gives it a direction rather than a shape. The pine below is flat strips folded once and splayed.

The moment
For the friend abroad, the relative you only write to in December, the neighbour who moved away. Christmas is the excuse to say something to people you would not otherwise write to, and a card that took ninety minutes to make carries that better than a pack of twenty ever will.

Every Vonderly card is built by 2 to 3 specialists working in sequence. The artisan below led the work on this one.
I do the coils and most of the leaves on our cards. The coils have to be the same size all the way through. If one is wrong, you can see it on the finished card. The leaves I shape on a comb, that is how they get their curve. This part of the work I am fastest at, because I have done it the longest.

Can the Christmas Candle card be posted overseas?

Paper quilling is the art of rolling, shaping and arranging narrow strips of paper to create raised designs. On Vonderly cards, each visible quilled element is shaped and placed by hand rather than printed.
How long does it take to make a Vonderly card?
A Vonderly card typically takes around 90 minutes of handwork. Different parts may pass through specialist hands for shaping, detailing and assembly before the finished card is checked and packed.
What comes with each card?
Each card measures 5 × 5 inches, is blank inside for your own message, and comes with a 5.25 × 5.25-inch kraft envelope.
What if my card arrives damaged?
We replace it at no cost, and you keep the original. Email hello@vonderly.com within 30 days of delivery with a photo, and we ship a replacement or issue a refund. There is nothing to send back.
