Story
The design and the moment.
01
The design
The bell is one long strip looped back and forth from the crown down, each loop slightly shorter than the last, so the flare of the bell comes from the loop lengths rather than any cut edge. A row of tight scrolls closes the rim. The pine behind it is a different technique entirely: flat strips folded once and splayed into a fan, no coiling at all.
02
The moment
Christmas cards are the one category people still keep. They go on the mantel, then into a box, then out again years later. That is worth something, and it is the argument for sending one that took ninety minutes to make rather than one bought in a pack of twenty.
